Dr. Jay Hammett

PT, DPT

Jay Hammett's journey into the field of physical therapy began as a teenager, dealing with back and shoulder injuries while playing baseball. His successful rehabilitation allowed him to continue his athletic career, becoming a 4-year starter at St. Mary's College of Maryland. This personal experience sparked his passion for helping athletes recover and optimize their performance.

Jay earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Political Science from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2020. He then completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) education at the University of Maryland Baltimore, graduating in May 2024.

During PT school, Jay had a rotation with University of Maryland and University of Maryland Baltimore County athletics, working with Division 1 athletes from various sports. This experience exposed him to high-performance athletes, return-to-sport testing, and advanced strength and conditioning concepts. Additionally, Jay will be helping coach baseball at McDonogh School in the upcoming 2025 season.

Jay specializes in treating overhead athletes, including common baseball injuries of the elbow and shoulder. He has extensive experience in post-operative rehabilitation for UCL injuries and labral repairs, as well as treating post-operative ACL reconstructions and other common knee injuries.

In PT school, Jay completed research on interval throwing programs and their effectiveness in facilitating return to play for overhead athletes. This blend of personal experience and professional expertise makes Jay a dedicated and knowledgeable physical therapist, committed to helping others achieve their physical goals and return to the activities they love.
