Joshua Haffner’s journey into physical therapy began in high school while managing injuries sustained through wrestling. Later, after experiencing another round of physical therapy following a cycling injury, he developed a deep passion for the field. Realizing the profound impact physical therapy had on his own recovery, he decided to return to school and dedicate his career to helping others restore movement and function.
Josh earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he served as class president. He completed his undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston, where he was instrumental in founding the school’s wrestling club. Since entering the profession, Josh has gained six years of experience as a practicing physical therapist, continually advancing his expertise through specialized certifications and continuing education.
Josh has pursued extensive post-graduate training, earning certifications in trigger point dry needling (CMTPT-DN) and professional bike fitting. His additional coursework includes vestibular and balance disorder management, hypermobility spectrum disorders, and patellofemoral pain, equipping him with a well-rounded skill set to address a wide range of conditions.
His treatment philosophy centers on restoring the right balance of mobility and stability to promote healthy movement patterns. Josh utilizes a combination of manual therapy, targeted strengthening, and functional training, tailoring his approach to each patient’s unique needs. His expertise extends to orthopedic and sports physical therapy, dry needling, bike fitting, and vestibular therapy, making him a valuable resource for both athletes and active individuals.
Josh is a proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and remains committed to staying at the forefront of advancements in physical therapy.
When he’s not in the clinic, you can find Josh riding his bike, playing table tennis, rock climbing, attending games at Camden Yards, or exploring local bookstores. His passion for movement, combined with his hands-on approach to rehabilitation, allows him to help his patients return to the activities they love stronger and more resilient than before.
