Joshua Willey’s interest in physical therapy was sparked by a personal experience as an athlete. After sustaining a right shoulder injury during a headfirst slide in a baseball game, he was fascinated by how a combination of stretching and strengthening helped him return to the field. His passion for anatomy and biology during high school, coupled with a desire to combine sports medicine, service, and science, led him to pursue a career in physical therapy.
Joshua attended Lebanon Valley College, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He completed a B.S. in Exercise Science in 2019 and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2021, along with a minor in Spanish to better serve a diverse patient population. In 2023, Joshua achieved his certification as a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), equipping him with advanced skills in diagnostics and interventions to improve joint mobility and restore pain-free function. He has also pursued continuing education courses focusing on rehabilitation following ACL reconstructions and overhead athlete injuries.
With over three years of experience in orthopedics and sports medicine, Joshua has treated patients ranging from Division I athletes to weekend warriors. During his time in PT school, he completed clinical rotations that deepened his understanding of orthopedic care and manual therapy, further enhancing his ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centered treatment.
Joshua specializes in treating baseball players and overhead athletes, as well as field athletes such as soccer, football, and lacrosse players. He also enjoys working with golfers and runners, as they align with his personal hobbies. Growing up, Joshua was an ice hockey and baseball player, and he continued his athletic journey as a collegiate baseball catcher at Lebanon Valley College. These experiences allow him to empathize with athletes and provide tailored care that supports their recovery and performance goals.
In addition to his clinical practice, Joshua is passionate about mentoring DPT students during their clinical rotations, helping to shape the next generation of physical therapists. He also participated in research during PT school, examining the relationship between heart rate variability (HRV) and its impact on balance—a project that reflects his commitment to advancing the field through evidence-based practice.
Joshua’s unique combination of personal athletic experience, advanced clinical training, and dedication to patient care makes him a compassionate and skilled physical therapist. His goal is to empower his patients to overcome injuries and achieve their full potential, whether on the field or in their everyday lives.
