Matt Taxin’s passion for physical therapy was cultivated from a young age, as he balanced being a three-sport athlete, playing ice hockey, baseball, and lacrosse—often all at the same time. The physical demands of maintaining his own athletic performance sparked a deep interest in recovery and injury prevention, leading him to pursue a career in sports physical therapy. His personal journey of staying healthy as a busy athlete ultimately fueled his desire to help others achieve their own performance goals while maintaining optimal health.
Matt earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2018. Eager to specialize further in sports rehabilitation, he completed a Sports Physical Therapy Residency at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery. In 2023, Matt became a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS), highlighting his expertise in the field. He is also certified in Dry Needling and holds certifications from the Titleist Performance Institute (for golf) and On BaseU (for baseball), further emphasizing his specialization in treating athletes.
Throughout his clinical rotations, Matt worked extensively with high school and collegiate athletes, particularly developing a focus on throwing video analysis for baseball players. This experience sparked a keen interest in treating baseball-related injuries. Over his career, Matt has treated a wide range of orthopedic and sports injuries, both non-operative and post-surgical, with a special focus on post-operative rehabilitation. His expertise includes ACL reconstructions, Tommy John rehabilitation, and labral repair surgeries, which have become areas of strong clinical interest.
Matt’s specialties include ArmCare for baseball and softball players, as well as comprehensive post-operative care for all surgeries, with a particular passion for ACL, Tommy John, and labral repairs. His ability to combine advanced recovery techniques with sports-specific rehabilitation has made him a trusted resource for athletes aiming to return to peak performance.
Matt is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Delaware Physical Therapy Association, and the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT). His involvement in these groups reflects his commitment to staying at the forefront of sports physical therapy advancements and evidence-based practice.
