Dr. Pavlos Gkikas

Pavlos Gkikas's entry into the field of physical therapy is deeply rooted in his personal experiences with sports injuries during his time as an athlete for the Hellenic National Team. These firsthand experiences not only provided him with an intimate understanding of the physical and psychological aspects of sports injuries but also ignited his passion for helping other athletes through their rehabilitation processes.

Pavlos's academic journey in physical therapy is marked by significant achievements. He pursued post-graduate studies in Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy at University College London, a prestigious institution known for its rigorous program. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen Margaret University. This comprehensive educational background has provided him with a broad and in-depth understanding of various aspects of physical therapy.

Professionally, Pavlos has accumulated a wealth of experience in the field. He spent a year working at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in the UK, the largest orthopedic hospital in the country and renowned for its leadership in orthopedics both nationally and globally. Following this, he continued his practice in the United States for approximately two years. His experience in these renowned institutions has equipped him with extensive knowledge and skills in treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions.

In addition to his experience as a physical therapist, Pavlos also has three years of experience in coaching and strength & conditioning. This dual expertise in physical therapy and athletic training positions him uniquely to understand and address the needs of athletes from both a rehabilitation and performance enhancement perspective.

Pavlos specializes in working with basketball players, and his areas of expertise include ACL injuries, hip and shoulder labrum injuries, and lower extremity tendinopathies. His focus on these particular injuries demonstrates his commitment to addressing the specific rehabilitation needs associated with high-impact and high-intensity sports like basketball.
